NEW DELHI- A police encounter in Ghaziabad, has resulted in the deaths of two men wanted in connection with a recent shooting at Bollywood actor Disha Patani’s ancestral home. Police identified the suspects as Ravindra from Rohtak and Arun from Sonipat, noting they were both linked to a major transnational criminal network. A Delhi Police officer also sustained injuries during the operation.
The confrontation occurred during a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force and the Crime Intelligence Unit of Delhi Police. Authorities stated the suspects initiated the gunfight by opening fire on the police team.
In the resulting exchange, both men were shot and later died from their injuries at a hospital. Investigators recovered a cache of weapons from the scene, including a Glock pistol, a Zigana pistol, and multiple live cartridges.
The incident that prompted the police action took place on September 12, when shots were fired at the Patani family residence in Bareilly’s Civil Lines neighborhood. At the time of the attack, the home was occupied by the actor’s father, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani, along with her mother and sister, Khushbu Patani.
Soon after the shooting, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar took responsibility for the attack in a social media post. According to police, Brar’s statement alleged the assault was carried out in protest of comments he claimed Patani and her sister had made about two religious figures, Sant Premanand Maharaj and Aniruddhacharya. The post reportedly contained explicit threats and named several of his associates.
