SIERRA MADRE, CA – Janesh Rahlan’s path to comedy is anything but ordinary. Born in India and raised across the U.S., he spent years juggling the sky-high expectations of his parents while secretly plotting a life of laughter.
His brainy side earned him a Fulbright Scholarship at Northwestern University and a role in product management at LinkedIn, but somewhere between spreadsheets and strategy meetings, his inner comedian refused to stay quiet. Eventually, he swapped the office for the stage, stepping into sales and stand-up and finding a way to bridge brains and humor.
Now an Enterprise Account Executive at Scribe and a celebrated stand-up comic, Rahlan has honed his unique perspective—from immigrant upbringing, the absurdities of everyday existence, to tragically millennial life—into razor-sharp comedy.
He’s performed at iconic venues including the San Francisco Punch Line, The Comedy Store, and Chicago’s Laugh Factory, and opened for comedy legends such as Cedric the Entertainer, Jeff Ross, Kumail Nanjiani, Atsuko Okatsuka, Josh Johnson, and Jesus Trejo.
His relatable, self-aware humor resonates with audiences, winning him followers on TikTok and even landing him a spot in a Super Bowl commercial. He also regularly performs at corporate events and private parties, proving his comedy translates from the stage to any setting.
Since the age of 17, Rahlan knew he wanted to be a comedian, but he initially took a more conventional route to meet family expectations. As he shared on the “Beyond Quota” podcast, he intentionally stepped away from the “high mountaintop” of a product career to explore comedy and sales—a move that has clearly paid off.
On September 27, Rahlan will host an evening of non-stop laughter at the Sierra Madre Playhouse, in Southern California, bringing together nationally celebrated comedians Jackie Kashian and James Adomian.
