NEW YORK, NY- Indian comedian Samay Raina is set to bring his stand-up special, ‘Still Alive’, to The Theater at Madison Square Garden. The performance marks the exclusive North American staging of the show.
The Madison Square Garden date places Raina among a limited group of South Asian comedians to headline the venue, highlighting the growing demand for Indian stand-up in the United States. Raina first came to national prominence after winning the series ‘Comicstaan’ and has since built a following through international tours, stand-up releases and digital content.
The move to one of New York City’s most prominent venues follows a 32-city North American tour last year. Hiral Jamindar, Director of Millennial Events, noted that Raina sold more than 50,000 tickets in under six weeks during that run. “This year, with his popularity accelerating at an extraordinary pace, we’re thinking bigger, including iconic venues and larger capacities,” Jamindar stated.
Reflecting on his return to the region, Raina said, “The audience in USA and Canada saw me at the worst time of my life, now they get to see me in the best.”
Produced by The Comedy Factory and Millennial Events, ‘Still Alive’ blends dark humor, self-reflection and improvisation shaped during Raina’s time as a chess streamer. The show covers themes such as online culture, personal setbacks and contemporary social behavior.
