Sayani Gupta’s Directorial Debut ‘Aasmani’ Premieres At NYIFF

MUMBAI — Actress and filmmaker Sayani Gupta returned to the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) this year with the premiere of her directorial debut, ‘Aasmani’, a milestone that brought back memories of her first appearance at the festival more than a decade ago.

Reflecting on her previous visit in 2014, Gupta recalled attending NYIFF with actress Kalki Koechlin for the screening of director Shonali Bose’s acclaimed film ‘Margarita With A Straw’.

Sharing the memory on Instagram Stories, Gupta revealed that Koechlin had shared her room with her during the festival.

“Last time I was at NYIFF in 2014, Kalki let me stay in her room. She literally shared everything with me for the entire festival tour of Margarita. Best sister/gf to be starting my actor’s journey with (sic),” Gupta wrote.

Looking back on the experience, she added, “This time I’m back with my own room. And a view. But gotta say missing Kalki a lot through this. There’s a special joy in sharing. A room or a roommate to help you with the saree!”

Gupta and Koechlin appeared together in ‘Margarita With A Straw’, which was screened at NYIFF in 2014. (IANS)
