Whole Wheat Donuts

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Royal® Chakki Atta
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil (for kneading and frying, if deep frying)
  • tsp baking powder 

Preparation

  1. Place the warm milk in a bowl, add the yeast and sugar, and set aside in a warm place until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, combine Royal® Chakki Atta, baking powder, and salt. Sieve and set aside.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture and knead into a soft dough.
  4. Add a little oil to make the dough non-sticky. Knead well, cover with cling film, and let it rest for 1 hour or until it rises.
  5. Once the dough has risen, knead it again. Roll it out and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter.
  6. Place the donuts on a tray, cover with a cloth, and let them rest for 30 minutes.
  7. Cook the donuts:
    • To fry: Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown.
    • To bake: Bake at 180°C (350°F) until cooked through and lightly golden.
  8. Glaze the donuts with honey and sprinkle oats on top.
  9. Serve warm with coffee or tea.
