ORANGE, CA – Chapman University celebrated honored, on April 16, the Shukla family for their contributions and achievements during the annual Charles C. Chapman Legacy Society dinner. The evening, led by David Moore, Assistant Vice President of Legacy Planning, marked the formal induction of Dr. Pradip K. Shukla and Professor Yatri Shukla into the society, alongside their eldest daughter, Dr. Monica Shukla-Belmontes.

The family’s connection to the university was defined by a series of records. Pradip Shukla, who currently serves as The Shah Family Endowed Chair in Innovativeness, was recognized in his 41st year at the Argyros College of Business and Economics for holding the record for teaching the most students in Chapman’s 165-year history. This milestone was reached through a relentless commitment to education, including teaching additional sections during summer sessions, interterms, and regular semester overloads.

The family’s academic prowess extends to the next generation. Dr. Monica Shukla-Belmontes, currently the Dean of the School of Business at College of the Canyons, was recognized as the individual who has earned the most degrees in the university’s history, holding five degrees and two graduate certificates. Her mother, Professor Yatri Shukla, is a triple alumna with degrees in Food Science and Business, while her sister, Amy Alfi, also holds three Chapman degrees.

Beyond their academic records, the Shuklas are ensuring a lasting impact through a significant estate gift. Their contribution will support the Hindu Vedic Fund within the Fish Interfaith Center, fostering spiritual engagement and programming for Hindu students on campus for generations to come.
