ATLANTA, GA – The AAPI Victory Fund, alongside Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), Honorable Dilawar Syed, former Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden, AAPI Victory Fund Chairman Shekar Narasimhan, and comedian Jenny Yang, successfully rallied hundreds of community leaders, local officials, and volunteers in the battleground state of Georgia to drive grassroots momentum for the Harris-Walz ticket and AAPI candidates.
The day kicked off with a canvass at Cauley Creek Park in Johns Creek, where volunteers gathered to knock on doors for the Harris-Walz campaign, State Representative Michelle Au, and State Senate candidate Ashwin Ramaswami.
“Today’s event is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together to uplift our communities,” said Rep. Jayapal. “Here in Georgia, the AAPI community is driving change. It’s crucial that we engage every voter to ensure their voices are heard at the ballot box. When we knock on doors and talk to neighbors, we’re not just supporting candidates—we’re building a movement for fair wages, economic opportunity, and a democracy that works for all. I’m proud to stand with such passionate leaders and volunteers fighting for a better future.”
Syed added, “As we reach out to voters today, we are amplifying the voices of communities that have long been underrepresented in our political process. Every voter must feel their voice matters and that their participation drives real change. By knocking on doors and having conversations, we’re strengthening our democracy and ensuring that issues important to our communities are front and center.”
October 5 also included visits to key AAPI-owned businesses in Johns Creek and Duluth, where local candidates spoke about the importance of supporting the Harris-Walz ticket and empowering the AAPI community at the grassroots level.
“This Day of Action showcases the strength and unity of the AAPI community in Georgia and nationwide,” said Narasimhan. “From small business owners to local leaders, our organization is playing an active role in shaping the future of this country. In states like Georgia, the AAPI vote is critical for Vice President Kamala Harris. The energy we saw today reflects our collective power. We’re not just knocking on doors—we’re opening doors to opportunity, equity, and representation for all.”
The event concluded with a roundtable discussion hosted by Syed and a lively comedy show by Jenny Yang at Café Rothem, an AAPI-owned café in Duluth. Yang lifted spirits and energized supporters after a full day of canvassing.
