Accused In Nijjar Murder Case No Longer In Custody?
India-West News Desk
VANCOUVER, BC – Documents released by the Justice Department of British Columbia, Canada, indicate that all four individuals accused in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, designated a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency, are no longer in custody, having been granted bail.
The case documents display an “N” under the custody status for the accused, a ANI report claimed. The four men—Karan Brar, 22; Karanpreet Singh, 28; Kamalpreet Singh, 22; and Amandeep Singh, 22—were charged by Canadian police with Nijjar’s murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Brar, Karanpreet Singh, and Kamalpreet Singh were arrested in Edmonton on May 3, while Amandeep Singh, already in custody with Peel Regional Police in Ontario on unrelated firearms charges, was arrested for Nijjar’s murder on May 11.
According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team in British Columbia, the accused face charges of murder and conspiracy.
This development comes amid heightened tensions between India and Canada. Diplomatic ties between the two nations have been strained since Canada accused Indian government agents of involvement in Nijjar’s killing.
