MUMBAI- Actor Agastya Nanda has dismissed the notion of being burdened by his famous lineage, asserting that he views his identity through his own surname rather than the celebrated Bachchan legacy.

Speaking to IMDb following the theatrical release of his film ‘Ikkis’, Nanda addressed the public expectations tied to being the grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. “I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because I know that’s not my legacy to own,” Nanda stated. “I think my surname is Nanda because I’m my father’s son first. I focus on making him proud, and that’s a legacy I carry very heavily on me.”

The actor, who is also the nephew of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, noted that while he admires his relatives’ work, he does not attempt to emulate them. “I don’t think I can ever be them. So, it’s not even worth spending time trying to think of it,” he added.

In the biopic ‘Ikkis’, Nanda portrays Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. Reflecting on the production, Nanda described the filming as intense and unpredictable. “Everything was chaotic and unexpected, to be honest. I can’t think of one schedule or moment we had which was expected or calm,” he told IMDb.

‘Ikkis’ marks Nanda’s big-screen debut following his 2023 OTT turn in ‘The Archies’. The film also features the final on-screen appearance of actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24 last year. In the film, Dharmendra portrayed Nanda’s onscreen father, Brigadier Madan Lal Khetarpal (Retd.). The project also features the acting debut of Simar Bhatia, niece of actor Akshay Kumar.
