Ahaan Panday To Headline YRF’s Next After Blockbuster ‘Saiyaara’

MUMBAI—Rising Gen Z star Ahaan Panday, who made a sensational debut with Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’, is now set to headline his next big project — an action romance helmed by filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar under Yash Raj Films.

After the emotional success of ‘Saiyaara’, where Ahaan’s portrayal of a devoted lover caring for his Alzheimer-stricken girlfriend struck a chord with audiences, anticipation was sky-high about his next move. Sources confirm that Aditya Chopra and Ali Abbas Zafar were keen to showcase the young actor in a fresh avatar, blending romance with high-octane action. The yet-untitled film will go on floors in early 2026 and marks the fifth collaboration between Chopra and Zafar after ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, ‘Gunday’, ‘Sultan’, and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’.

A source close to the development said, “Ahaan Panday came from nowhere and became the biggest Gen Z star of the country with a theatrical pull that is rare for any debutant. With his next, the idea was to retain the emotional connect audiences now have with him but to elevate his persona through a love story packaged in action.”

Meanwhile, Mohit Suri, who directed ‘Saiyaara’, expressed his pride in witnessing Ahaan’s meteoric rise. Taking to Instagram, the filmmaker shared nostalgic images and wrote, “From seeing you nervously and foolishly perform on stage, referencing your character Krish K, to seeing you getting mobbed here today as a star Ahaan Panday! So proud of you.”

‘Saiyaara’, which released on July 18, 2025, emerged as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of the year and the highest-grossing Indian romantic film. The film also began streaming on Netflix on September 12, extending its reach to global audiences.

Reflecting on its reception, Suri said, “’Saiyaara’ will always be very special for me. The way audiences embraced it in theatres globally was incredible. As it begins streaming, I hope Krish and Vaani’s love story touches hearts everywhere, in every corner of the world.”
