Ambassador Unfurls Tricolor In Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On August 15, India House in Washington, D.C., was the site of a vibrant celebration marking India’s 79th Independence Day. The event drew a large crowd, including members of the Indian diaspora, students, and other supporters of India.
The festivities began with a flag-hoisting ceremony. Following this, inay Kwatra, the Indian Ambassador to the United States, spoke to the gathering, sharing key points from the Indian President’s address to the nation.
Attendees were treated to a diverse cultural program. Young members of the Indian diaspora showcased their talent, with a classical Odissi performance by senior dancers from the Mayur Dance Academy and a medley of patriotic songs from students of the Gandharva School of Music.
As part of the day’s events, the embassy honored the winners of a painting and essay competition for children. The celebration also featured an exhibition on the history of the Indian tricolor, tied to the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
