American Airlines Flight From NY To Delhi, Diverted After Bomb Threat
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – An American Airlines flight from New York to New Delhi was diverted to Rome on February 23 due to a security concern that was later deemed “non-credible,” the airline confirmed. The aircraft landed safely in Rome, where law enforcement conducted an inspection before clearing it to continue its journey.
The flight, American Airlines 292, departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport en route to Indira Gandhi International Airport when the crew was alerted to a potential threat. Flight Emergency, a flight-tracking account, reported on X that the diversion was due to a bomb threat.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, carrying 200 passengers, was over the Caspian Sea when the warning was issued, sources told Reuters. A senior official cited by ABC News said the threat was received via email but was ultimately determined to be unfounded.
