BEVERLY HILLS, CA – The stars came out to celebrate style with purpose at the launch of Anita Dongre’s new flagship store at Gardenhouse Beverly Hills. Among those in attendance were Mindy Kaling and Poorna Jagannathan, who joined the acclaimed Indian designer for an evening that marked a milestone moment in global fashion: the arrival of Indian luxury on one of the world’s most iconic shopping avenues.
The Beverly Hills boutique, Dongre’s 13th worldwide, represents her boldest U.S. expansion since opening her New York City flagship in SoHo in 2018. Following acclaimed launches in Dubai and New York, Dongre has now become the first Indian designer to open a flagship in Beverly Hills, reaffirming her mission of “taking India to the world.”
Stepping inside the new space feels like entering a serene slice of modern Rajasthan. Hand-painted Pichhwai walls crafted by artisans in India bring alive intricate scenes of flora and fauna, while embroidered cushions, bespoke wallpapers, and custom furnishings extend Dongre’s signature aesthetic which is a dialogue between tradition, sustainability, and understated elegance.

At the heart of the store stands a commanding elephant installation, from The Great Elephant Migration, a global art project created by Indian artisans using invasive Lantana weeds. The sculpture symbolizes Dongre’s enduring commitment to environmental consciousness and her philosophy of “Fashion For Good.”
“Every piece we create is touched by the hands of women artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations,” Dongre shared. “Bringing their craft to Beverly Hills is not just about fashion — it’s about giving their art the global stage it deserves.”
A pioneer of ethical luxury, Dongre has empowered thousands of craftspeople through initiatives that sustain traditional weaving, embroidery, and block printing. Her collections — spanning bridal couture, ready-to-wear, and vegan accessories — seamlessly blend Indian artistry with contemporary global sensibilities.
Worn by icons like Kate Middleton, Kim Kardashian, Dakota Johnson, and Beyoncé, Dongre’s designs have long transcended borders. Her collaboration with Mattel on the first Diwali Barbie, a worldwide sellout, further underscored her role in championing South Asian representation in global fashion.
