Attacked From Within His Party, Vivek Ramaswamy Says, “ End Identity Politics”

CINCINNNATI, OH – On November 3, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, a Hindu Indian American, posted a brief but pointed tweet: “End identity politics.” The message came amid a growing storm of social media attacks directed at him and other Indian-origin public figures, reflecting tensions over religion, culture, and identity within the GOP.

Ramaswamy has long faced pushback from the Christian MAGA core, particularly after advocating for foreign talent in the U.S. and criticizing aspects of American education and culture.

Social media critics routinely tell him to “go back to India” whenever he shares personal posts, including recent Halloween photos with his children. This latest tweet once again sparked a wave of criticism, with many accusing him of hypocrisy for commenting on identity politics while being a focal point of it.

The environment was already tense following remarks by Vice President JD Vance about his wife, Usha Vance, a Hindu. Vance said he hoped she would embrace Christianity, framing it as a normal desire for loved ones to share their faith. Though Vance defended his statement, the comments intensified debates around Christianity versus Hinduism in politics, pulling Ramaswamy into the controversy as well.

MAGA commentator Dinesh D’Souza weighed in on the backlash against Ramaswamy, writing that the abuse he faced for posting a simple family photo illustrates a broader problem within the GOP. His son in law Rep.Brandon Gill has often clashed with the community with his comments often viewed as anti-Indian.

Ramaswamy’s terse call to “End identity politics” triggered another wave of criticism. Some social media users accused him of having started such debates himself, referencing his comments last Christmas when he suggested that immigrants work harder than native Americans, sparking a discussion comparing outcomes for different ethnic groups.
