MUMBAI (IANS)- Rego B, grandson of legendary singer Bappi Lahiri, has launched his debut single “Yaara,” aiming to infuse the music industry with a fresh wave while honoring his iconic grandfather’s “flamboyant” spirit.

Rego B fondly described Bappi Da as “flamboyant, vibrant, and larger than life.” He shared that beyond Bappi Lahiri’s signature disco sound and gold chains, his most memorable quality was “his ability to light up every room he entered.”

Rego B (original name Swastik Bansal) revealed a key lesson from his Dadu: “Dadu taught me everything. One thing he always emphasized was humility… He would always say, ‘The more you grow, the more humble you must become. Listen to people. Take everyone along.’ That’s something I try to follow every day.”

Deeply inspired by Bappi Da’s legacy, Rego B hopes to establish his own unique identity. “I’m inspired by him, of course, but I also want to bring a fresh wave into the industry—a new style, a new charisma,” he said, adding, “I believe as more songs release, the momentum will build, and people will recognize my unique identity too.”

His debut track, “Yaara,” which he composed and sang, celebrates friendship. Rego B shared the inspiration for the song: “My debut track, O Yaara, is very close to my heart—it’s an emotion for me. I had just passed tenth grade, and I started reflecting on how much my friends had done for me… On the way back home (from our farewell party), a melody just popped into my head—O Yaara. It felt haunting and beautiful.” He noted that composing the melody took “barely two minutes” before his friend Apoorva wrote the lyrics.

Rego B previously made his singing debut at just 12 years old with the upbeat single ‘Bachcha Party.’
