Bomb Threat Targets Shen Yun In CA

CLAREMONT, CA — Shen Yun Performing Arts, the New York-based company which advertises heavily and its billboards pepper freeways across Los Angeles, played to a packed venue here shortly after being evacuated due to a bomb threat that was later deemed false.

Indian-Americans form a large part of the audiences that the company puts out annually.

This threat on March 30, came just hours before Shen Yun’s final performance at Pomona College’s Bridges Auditorium.

Claremont Colleges Campus Safety received the threatening email prompting an immediate evacuation. Claremont police responded alongside canine units to sweep the building. No explosives were found.

A similar incident had occurred weeks earlier at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The White House and U.S. State Department have both condemned the threats against Shen Yun. The company believes the campaign is orchestrated by the Chinese Communist Party.

Shen Yun has also faced diplomatic pressure, with Chinese officials reportedly contacting theaters and local authorities to discourage support for the group, sometimes threatening economic consequences for non-compliance.
