MUMBAI (ANI)– Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, a long-time admirer of cinematic legend Charlie Chaplin, reaffirmed his reverence for the silent film icon at the recent trailer launch of his upcoming comedy, Housefull 5. Kumar surprised attendees by revealing he carries a photograph of Chaplin in his wallet.

When asked by media about the film’s return to slapstick comedy, Kumar emphasized its difficulty. “Slapstick comedy is not easy,” he stated, adding that Housefull 5 blends slapstick with action and physical comedy. He then proudly displayed Chaplin’s picture from his wallet, a gesture met with enthusiastic affirmation from the audience.

Charlie Chaplin, celebrated for his enduring character “The Little Tramp,” remains a profound influence on filmmakers and actors worldwide. His prolific 65-year career revolutionized the silent film era, earning him a 12-minute ovation at the 1972 Academy Awards, a testament to his unparalleled impact.

Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, is set to release on June 6.

  • Indians are Number 1 in imitation. When will they do their original act.

  • Charlie Chaplin’s legacy is truly inspiring, and his influence on cinema is undeniable. It’s fascinating how “The Little Tramp” continues to resonate with audiences even today. The 12-minute ovation at the Academy Awards speaks volumes about his impact. However, the comment about Indians being number one in imitation feels a bit out of place here. Why do you think that was mentioned in this context? It seems unrelated to Chaplin’s achievements. What do you believe is the connection, if any? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
