Delcy Rodriguez, Who Now Leads Venezuela, Is Also A  Devotee Of Sathya Sai Baba

NEW DELHI – As the world grapples with the news from Venezuela, one of the details to emerge is that Delcy Rodríguez, now serving as Venezuela’s acting President, is also a devotee of Indian spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba, just like her predecessor, the captured President Nicolas Maduro.

Rodríguez’s ties to Sathya Sai Baba are rooted in her visits to Prasanthi Nilayam, the main ashram and spiritual headquarters of Sai Baba located in Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. According to official trust releases and news reports, she has traveled there on multiple occasions in recent years, describing her visits as deeply personal and spiritually meaningful.

Her first recorded visit was on August 5, 2023, when she was part of the Venezuelan delegation in India for the G20 Summit. Although the main purpose of that trip was diplomatic, Rodríguez took time for a personal pilgrimage to the ashram to pay her respects.

Nearly a year later, on October 26, 2024, she returned to Prasanthi Nilayam as Executive Vice President of Venezuela, accompanied by Venezuela’s Ambassador to India.

Reports that Maduro and his spouse were devotees of Sathya Sai Baba have circulated for years, and Rodríguez’s similar devotion adds a lesser-known dimension to the country’s political narrative.
