Doval-Rubio Talks Focus On Defense, Security
NEW DELHI – US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio met India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on May 24, with discussions focused on defense, security, and strategic technology cooperation, including the TRUST initiative.
“US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Mr. Marco Rubio met NSA Shri Ajit Doval today. The discussions focused on defense, security and strategic technology related cooperation including the TRUST initiative,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on X following the meeting.
“The two NSAs reiterated the high priority accorded to the bilateral Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues,” it added.
On May 23, Rubio had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the situation in the Middle East.
According to a statement issued by US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the two sides reviewed recent progress in defense, trade, energy, and strategic technology cooperation.
Rubio later said on X that his discussions with Modi focused on the India-US partnership in energy, critical supply chains, and emerging technologies. (IANS)
