NEW YORK, NY – Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, brought a jolt of celebrity buzz to New York City’s 2025 mayoral race with her appearance at a recent rally for Democratic Socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani.

Held at Brooklyn Steel, the event drew an energetic crowd of over 2,000—predominantly young voters—and featured appearances by actor Kal Penn and comedian Jaboukie Young-White, underscoring the campaign’s appeal to young New Yorkers.

While Emhoff didn’t address the crowd directly, her endorsement—announced on Instagram where she called Mamdani “the future mayor of NYC”—was felt throughout the rally, the New York Post said.

At 25, Emhoff is more than a political relative—she’s a fashion designer, influencer, and cultural figure with growing influence among progressive circles. Her endorsement added cultural cachet to Mamdani’s campaign, especially among young urban voters.

Zohran Mamdani, currently a state assemblyman representing Queens, is polling second behind former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race. At the rally, he laid out an ambitious vision for the city, calling for rent freezes, universal childcare, and publicly owned grocery stores.
