BROOKLYN, NY – Etsy, Inc. which operates online marketplaces connecting millions of buyers and sellers globally, on October 29 named current President and Chief Growth Officer Kruti Patel Goyal as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. She will also join Etsy’s Board of Directors.
The appointment comes as Josh Silverman, who has led the company for over eight years, has decided to step down as CEO. He will provide continuity by serving as Executive Chair through the end of 2026. Fred Wilson, who has served as the Board’s Chair since 2017, will step down from that role but remain on the board.
Kruti Patel Goyal shared her excitement about the new role in a LinkedIn post, stating, “I’m incredibly honored and excited to share that I’ll be stepping into the role of CEO of Etsy, effective January 1. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to lead a company that I love and believe in so deeply.” She reflected on her experience with the platform, noting, “I’ve experienced the magic of Etsy countless times — as a leader, a shopper, and a member of this vibrant community. The joy of Etsy is in the human connections that power creativity and make our marketplace unlike anywhere else you can buy or sell.”
Goyal, who previously served as CEO of Etsy subsidiary Depop where she nearly doubled gross merchandise sales and the buyer base, said she is stepping into the role “with gratitude, curiosity, and a deep commitment to listening to, learning from, and growing alongside our incredible team and seller community.”
Goyal began her career in M&A at Morgan Stanley and at General Atlantic Partners in growth equity.
