From ‘Mirch Masala’ To ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ Film Fest To Celebrate Cinema’s Timeless Classics
MUMBAI (ANI)– The upcoming edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival will celebrate the legacy of Indian cinema with a retrospective selection under its ‘Legacy Rewind’ and ‘Timeless Tales’ sections. The festival will honor iconic filmmakers such as Subhash Ghai, Mansoor Khan, Vijay Anand, and Smita Patil, alongside classic Hollywood films.
The ‘Legacy Rewind’ slate will pay tribute to Subhash Ghai, marking 45 years of his musical thriller Karz (1980), known for its unforgettable soundtrack and performances by Rishi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, and Tina Munim. Expressing his excitement, Ghai said, “As we celebrate forty-five remarkable years of Karz at Red Lorry Film Festival, I am filled with nostalgia and pride. Festivals like these ensure the magic of films like Karz continues to resonate across generations.”
The section will also spotlight Mansoor Khan, presenting his beloved films Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), celebrating their 37th and 33rd anniversaries, respectively. Reflecting on the tribute, Khan said, “Revisiting this journey is a heartfelt celebration of my family’s contribution to Indian cinema, and I am extremely humbled to witness it at the festival.”
Honoring Nasir Hussain’s cinematic legacy, his daughter Nuzhat Khan will present his classics Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and Hum Kisise Kum Nahin (1977). “Celebrating my father’s extraordinary legacy at the Red Lorry Film Festival is a testament to the timeless charm of his work,” she shared.
The festival will also mark 55 years of Trimurti Films, celebrating Gulshan Rai’s Johny Mera Naam (1970) and Deewaar(1975). Reflecting on his father’s legacy, Rajiv Rai said, “It is an incredible honor to commemorate 55 years of Trimurti Films and celebrate these cinematic landmarks.”
Additionally, Red Lorry Film Festival will honor the visionary craft of Vijay Anand with screenings of Johny Mera Naam(1970), Teesri Manzil (1966), and Jewel Thief (1967).
Cinephiles can also look forward to a tribute to Guru Dutt’s centennial birth anniversary with Mr. & Mrs. 55 (1955) and a special screening of Smita Patil’s Mirch Masala (1987) in honor of her 70th birth anniversary.
