Ghazala Hashmi Launches First General Election Ad

RICHMOND, VA — Virginia’s Democratic Lt.Governor candidate Ghazala Hashmi unveiled her first general election ad on October 6, putting the spotlight on her roles as a mother and educator.

The 30-second commercial, titled “Educator,” is part of a six-figure ad campaign running across media markets statewide. In it, Hashmi’s experience in education and advocacy is framed as central to her campaign for lieutenant governor.

One worker featured in the ad praised Hashmi’s efforts: “Ghazala fought for guys like me, expanding apprenticeships and technical training. So we can get good-paying jobs, whether you go to college or not.”

Hashmi is competing against former conservative talk show host John Reid in the November election. Recent polling suggests she holds an early lead. A Virginia Commonwealth University survey released earlier this month showed Hashmi ahead of Reid by four points.

The ad aims to reinforce Hashmi’s image as a candidate who understands both family and workforce issues, tapping into her background in education and public service as she seeks statewide office.
