MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA– Google on May 4 announced the opening of applications for the third cohort of its Google Play Accelerator India, a three-month, equity-free program designed to support AI-powered app and gaming startups across India.

According to the company, 20 India-based startups between the Seed and Series A stages with a published app on the Google Play Store will be selected for the cohort, which begins in July 2026.

To be eligible, startups must use artificial intelligence and machine learning in a core capacity to build products for Indian and global users.

“Through the program, Google aims to help high-potential startups improve app quality, scale AI-led innovation, and accelerate business growth by providing access to its technology, expertise, and global network,” the company said in a statement.

The 12-week program will cover app quality, growth, design, data safety, and global expansion.

Each selected startup will be paired with a dedicated Google Startup Success Manager and receive access to mentorship sessions, technical audits, and customized reports on app performance and security. Google said past cohorts have logged more than 300 hours of mentoring across participating companies.

The program will run in a hybrid format, beginning with an intensive in-person bootcamp in the first week, followed by two months of virtual mentorship and on-demand sessions. It will conclude with an in-person Demo Day in November 2026, where participating startups will present to Google teams, investors, media, and ecosystem stakeholders.

Google said alumni from previous cohorts have used the program to introduce measurable product improvements. (IANS)
