LOS ANGELES, CA —Anoushka Shankar, the legendary fusion group Shakti, composer Siddhant Bhatia, and pianist Charu Suri have all earned nods across major global categories for the 68th Annual Grammys.
Indian American pianist and composer Charu Suri has earned a nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for ‘Shayan’, a record that elegantly intertwines contemporary jazz structures with Indian tonalities. She is known to tread fearlessly between genres, blending several styles and fusing Indian ragas with other traditions. Born in South India, she has been known as a piano prodigy performing in various concert halls at an early age.
Sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar has secured her 11th career Grammy nomination. Her acclaimed album ‘Chapter III: We Return to Light’—a collaboration with sarod player Alam Khan and percussionist Sarathy Korwar has been recognized in the Best Global Music Album category. The record continues Shankar’s signature exploration of Indian classical roots blended with modern sonic influences. Additionally, her track ‘Daybreak’ has earned a second nomination for Best Global Music Performance, underscoring her continued global resonance.

The revered fusion band Shakti, fronted by John McLaughlin and the late tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, celebrates a milestone year with two nominations. Their live album ‘Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live)’ is up for Best Global Music Album, while their powerful concert piece ‘Shrini’s Dream (Live)’ is nominated for Best Global Music Performance. The double recognition marks a fitting tribute to the group’s 50-year journey blending Indian classical and jazz improvisation.
Rounding out the list, in the global music field is composer Siddhant Bhatia, whose project ‘Sounds of Kumbha’ captures the vast and spiritual soundscape of the Kumbh Mela festival. Bhatia’s nomination in Best Global Music Album recognizes his creative approach to fusing ambient sound design with traditional Indian instrumentation. His collaboration extended to Charu Suri, who co-produced the record.
The winners will be announced at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
