NEW YORK, NY — The streets of New York City transformed into a vibrant display of compassion and sustainability as the Green Hands Movement marked International Meatless Day on November 25. Spearheaded by the Sadhu Vaswani Center for World Peace, the campaign encouraged New Yorkers to “Take the Veg Pledge” and embrace a cruelty-free lifestyle.

Iconic locations like Chelsea Market, the Meatpacking District, Little Island, and Times Square served as the backdrop for this impactful initiative. Advocates dressed as farm animals and waving symbolic green foam hands spread the message of a meatless, sustainable lifestyle, inviting passersby to commit to going meat-free for just one day.

A pivotal moment occurred in Times Square, where a massive billboard lit up the skyline. It featured Sadhu Vaswani, the spiritual visionary behind the movement, smiling alongside the words: “Celebrate Meatless Day: Take the Veg Pledge.” The striking visual captivated thousands, serving as a beacon of hope for a more compassionate world.

“New York City is the perfect place to inspire global change,” said Dr. Sudhir Parikh, renowned physician and media owner. “One day of conscious eating can create a ripple effect that benefits the planet, our health, and our souls. Sadhu Vaswani’s message of peace is more relevant than ever. Start with one day, and let that spark a lifelong journey.”

Diverse Voices Unite

The campaign brought together a wide array of voices, from medical professionals and animal rights activists to celebrities and influencers. Notable participants included actress Justin Adorno, activist Jamie Logan, vegan advocate Victoria Moran, filmmaker Neha Lohia, and sustainability influencer Shreya Godawat. Medical experts like Dr. Anna Yusim, Dr. Eva Selhub, and Dr. Tyran Marie also lent their support.

“This is just the beginning,” said Ashok Lalwani, President of the Sadhu Vaswani Center for World Peace. “One day without meat can spark a lifelong journey toward compassion, health, and planetary sustainability.”

A Movement Rooted in Action

Throughout the day, thousands of green foam hands—a symbol of peace and vegetarian advocacy—were raised across the city, reminding everyone of the tangible impact of a meat-free day.

“People forget the power of a single action,” said author and activist Victoria Moran. “One meal, one plate, one day—it all adds up to massive change when we take the Veg Pledge together.”

Filmmaker Neha Lohia echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the power of compassion: “Sadhu Vaswani taught us that humans can choose to uplift and heal rather than harm. This Meatless Day showed that a compassionate world is possible when we stand united.”

By promoting sustainability and compassion, the Green Hands Movement highlighted the far-reaching benefits of small, intentional steps, urging everyone to join the path toward a cruelty-free planet.
