Here Is Your Guide To Long-Lasting Dark Henna

As the wedding season blooms, brides and bridesmaids are leaving no stone unturned to get that perfect dark mehndi color, a symbol of beauty, love, and good luck. From home remedies to age-old traditions, here are some tried-and-tested tips to make your henna deeper and longer-lasting.

Apply at night

Applying mehendi in the evening or late at night allows it to dry and develop overnight, giving you a darker color by morning.

Keep paste longer

Don’t rush to scrape it off. Keeping mehndi on for at least 8–10 hours helps in deeper penetration into the skin.

Avoid washing immediately

Water can halt the oxidation process. Avoid washing your hands or feet for a full day after removing the paste for the richest results.

Heat and clove fumes trick

After the mehndi dries, gently hold your hands over the smoke from heating a few cloves in a pan. The mild heat helps deepen the color tone.

Use mustard or eucalyptus oil

Apply a thin layer of mustard or eucalyptus oil to the design. The heat from the oil will help to bring out the rich color of the henna.

Lemon and sugar magic

Once your mehndi has dried slightly, gently dab a mixture of lemon juice and sugar using a cotton ball. This helps keep the paste moist and enhances the color intensity. (ANI)
