Huma Qureshi Showcases Banarasi Saree At Cannes

MUMBAI-Actor Huma Qureshi brought a touch of Banaras to the ongoing Cannes Film Festival by wearing a traditional Banarasi saree at the event.

The 39-year-old actor shared photographs in which she was seen wearing a deep plum-hued Banarasi saree with gold zari detailing, paired with gold temple jewelry and minimal makeup.

“From the ghats of Banaras to the French Riviera. There’s something incredibly special about wearing a weave that feels like it has lived through time,” Huma wrote in the caption.

“What I love most is how it holds two worlds at once. The nostalgia of a traditional Banarasi weave, and the quiet unexpectedness of motifs that feel contemporary and playful,” she added.

“At Cannes, surrounded by cinema and storytelling, it feels surreal to wear something that tells a story of its own,” the actor said.

During the festival, Huma was also seen posing with Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek at an event hosted by the Red Sea Film Foundation under its “Women in Cinema” segment.

Huma Qureshi was last seen in ‘Single Salma’. She will next appear in ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’, starring Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas. (IANS)
