NEW DELHI, (ANI) – Following India’s Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack, a boycott of Turkey and Azerbaijan is underway due to their support for Pakistan. This has resulted in over 15,000 cancelled bookings, with full refunds offered by travel agencies and airlines.
Dr. Ajay Singh of the Tourist Guide Federation of India noted the national unity during Operation Sindoor and the subsequent anger at Turkey and Azerbaijan’s stance, leading to a two-thirds cancellation of outbound travel to these nations.
MakeMyTrip reported a 60% booking drop and a 250% increase in cancellations. Indian Airlines is providing full refunds.
Pakistan’s attempted drone infiltrations, potentially using Turkish-origin drones, further heightened tensions.
Turkey and Azerbaijan have openly backed Pakistan post-Pahalgam attack and India’s counter-terrorism measures. Azerbaijan echoed Pakistan’s views, and Turkey supported an international investigation and provided military aid.
