In NY, Indian Overseas Congress Gears Up For Lok Sabha Elections

NEW YORK, NY – The Indian Overseas Congress USA launched its official campaign for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, declaring the election as the “mother of all Lok Sabha elections.” With a fervent commitment to uphold the core values of freedom, fairness, secularism, and democracy, the IOC USA said it stands firm in its resolve to ensure that India remains a land where every citizen is treated equally, regardless of religion, caste, language, or region.

“The stakes are high, as Indian democracy faces unprecedented challenges. A potential third term for the current Prime Minister Modi could steer the country towards electoral autocracy, threatening the very foundation of democratic principles,” the IOC USA said.

It cited the recent electoral bond scandal, the gang rapes in Manipur, and the intimidation of the opposition as matters of concern.

Youth unemployment, the IOC USA said, was “alarming” as was the plight of farmers.

“In this critical juncture, the Congress Party, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, emerges as a beacon of hope and the true alternative. With a steadfast commitment to addressing the pressing issues plaguing our nation, the Congress Party pledges to effectuate real change and fulfill the promise of a true democratic India for all,” the IOC USA said in a statement.
