India-Canada Defense Cooperation Back in Focus at Shangri-La Dialogue
SINGAPORE -India and Canada on May 29 discussed ways to strengthen defense cooperation and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration across key sectors during talks held on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
The discussions took place between India’s Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Canada’s Senior Associate Deputy Minister of National Defense Kelvin Brosseau.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Public Relations stated, “Both sides discussed ways to strengthen India-Canada defense cooperation and explored opportunities for deeper collaboration across key domains, reflecting the growing convergence of strategic interests between the two nations.”
The meeting comes as India and Canada seek to advance engagement in areas of mutual strategic interest. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
The Shangri-La Dialogue, one of Asia’s premier security forums, brings together defense ministers, military leaders and policymakers from across the world and provides opportunities for bilateral discussions on regional and global security issues. (IANS)
