WASHINGTON, D.C. – India, which has brought on Jason Miller, a close ally of Donald Trump, as its lobbyist in Washington, met with Trump this week, posting a photo on X with the president. “Fantastic week in Washington with so many friends being in town, topped off of course, by having the opportunity to stop in and see our President in-action!” he wrote.

Hired in April under a $1.8 million annual contract, Miller leads SHW Partners, a lobbying firm tasked with advising India on U.S. policy, Congress, think tanks, state governments, and other stakeholders.

While it is unclear if India-related topics were discussed during the meeting, the encounter comes as U.S.-India relations experience a cautious thaw.

Miller is controversial and lost out on White House jobs because of credible accusations of extramarital affairs and hiring prostitutes.

But it underscores India’s strategy of hiring Washington insiders with close ties to influential U.S. figures, potentially boosting its influence in American policy making circles.
