India-US Climate Change Cooperation Will Boost Green Jobs

NEW DELHI (ANI) – Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy, Jorgan K. Andrews, addressed the 21st Indo-U.S. Economic Summit in New Delhi, emphasizing the importance of climate change mitigation and energy transition in strengthening India-U.S. relations. Speaking at the event organized by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Andrews highlighted that efforts to tackle climate change not only contribute to a healthier planet but also generate the anticipated green jobs.

He noted that the India-U.S. partnership is growing deeper and broader across various sectors. Andrews stressed that if climate change is not addressed, it would have a significant impact on the collective prosperity of both nations. “The impact on our collective prosperity if we do not solve these climate change problems together is profound,” Andrews remarked. He praised the joint efforts of governments and the private sector in reducing emissions and supporting India’s growth path without worsening global climate challenges. Andrews also pointed out that these initiatives would result in well-paying green jobs, benefiting both countries.

His remarks came in the wake of discussions between Prime Minister Modi and U.S. President Joe Biden during the recent QUAD Summit.
