Indian Americans In SF Protest BBC Documentary On Modi

FREMONT, CA (ANI) – Indian Americans here, on January 28, held a protest against the BBC documentary series “India: The Modi Question.”

About 50 members, under the banner of “Indian Diaspora“, chanting “biased BBC” and “racist BBC” marched on the streets stating that they “reject BBC’s sinister and biased documentary.”

This was in reaction to the UK’s national broadcaster BBC airing a two-part series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister during the riots of 2002.

On January 19, India denounced the documentary series and described it as a “propaganda piece” that is designed to push a discredited narrative. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi said it was a show of a colonial mindset. The documentary sparked outrage and was removed from select platforms.
