
Intel Appoints Sachin Katti As CTO, Head Of AI

SANTA CLARA, CA- Intel has promoted Sachin Katti to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a move announced by CEO Lip-Bu Tan as part of a broader reorganization. The leadership shift is aimed at streamlining decision-making and deepening Intel’s focus on AI-driven innovation.
Katti, a graduate of IIT Bombay, has his Ph.D. in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He began his academic journey as a research assistant at MIT, followed by a postdoctoral stint at UC Berkeley. He later joined Stanford University, where he became an associate professor and continues to teach.
He co-founded Kumu Networks in 2011 and served as its CEO for several years. In 2016, he founded Uhana, a startup focused on mobile network intelligence, and also launched the xRAN Forum the same year. Since 2018, he has served as technical steering board co-chair of the O-RAN Alliance.
Katti joined Intel in 2021 as CTO of its Network and Edge Group. In his expanded role, he will also oversee Intel’s engagement with startups and developer communities.
