India-West Staff Reporter
Chicago, IL – The Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA) has announced that its 23rd Biennial Convention will take place from July 3- 6 in Chicago. The popular event will be co-hosted by JAINA and the Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago.
The announcement of the convention marked the inaugural initiative by the newly elected JAINA Executive Committee, which officially assumed office on January 1, 2024, under the leadership of President Bindesh Shah.
Atul Shah, JAINA’s First VP, has been named as the Convener for the Convention.
Rooted in a rich history that dates to the first Jain Convention in Los Angeles in 1981, the vision for JAINA was further solidified at the second Jain Convention in New York in 1983, with the guidance and approval of revered leaders Chitrabhanu and Sushil Kumar. Ever since, every two years, JAINA Conventions have brought together thousands of people worldwide.
Established in 1981, JAINA serves as the umbrella entity for over 70 Jain centers and temples in the US and Canada. With a devoted team of hundreds of volunteers, JAINA operates as a philanthropic, educational, and service-oriented organization. It is the largest Jain organization outside India, representing nearly a quarter of a million Jains in North America.
