Jaishankar: Did Not Attend Trump Inaugural To Get Invite For Modi Visit
NEW DELHI (ANI)- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on February 3 rejected the allegation made by Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament that he was “sent to get an invite for our Prime Minister Narendra Modi” for Donald Trump’s inauguration as US President.
Jaishankar clarified that the Prime Minister of India does not attend such events and is instead represented by a special envoy.
“Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi deliberately spoke a falsehood about my visit to the US in December 2024. I went to meet the Secretary of State and NSA of the Biden Administration and to chair a gathering of our Consuls General. During my stay, the incoming NSA-designate met with me,” Jaishankar said in a social media post.
He added, “At no stage was an invitation in respect of the PM discussed. It is common knowledge that our PM does not attend such events. In fact, India is generally represented by Special Envoys,” the minister said.
This was in response to the storm set off in Parliament when Rahul Gandhi said that Jaishankar was sent to the inauguration of Donald Trump as US President to ensure a US invite for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rahul Gandhi is a troublemaker of highest order along with a person of low intelligence! Perhaps he should be deported to Italy.
