Javed Akhtar Has An Everlasting Regret And It’s About Rafi

MUMBAI – Legendary writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar recently shared his one big regret: never getting the chance to collaborate with iconic singer Mohammed Rafi. While Akhtar was an established screenwriter during Rafi’s prime, he hadn’t yet started his career as a lyricist.

“When he was in this world, I couldn’t write songs,” Akhtar explained. “I was a scriptwriter. So this desire remained in my heart that Rafi bhai should have also gotten to know me.”

Akhtar praised Rafi’s unmatched talent, noting that the singer’s voice continues to resonate with new generations. “It is impossible to find such perfection,” he said, citing songs like “Jaan Ke Liye Deewana” and “Meri Duniya Mein Tum Aayi.”
