SAN FRANCISCO, CA – “Unprecedented times call for unprecedented action, which is why I am thrilled to support the first woman and first South Asian American for President, Vice President Kamala Devi Harris,” states Kiran Jain, a Democratic National Committee Finance Co-Chair and 20+ year supporter of the Vice President. This follows President Biden’s historic announcement that he will not seek reelection – putting the interests of the country above himself and paving the way for Vice President Harris to pursue the Democratic nomination and defeat Donald Trump.

Harris has been a central figure in the Biden Administration, earning widespread recognition and respect for her leadership and governance. According to Jain, Harris is not only the best candidate to unify the Democratic Party, but also the strongest contender to challenge Trump in the upcoming election.

Jain highlights Harris’s extensive experience as a key driving factor. Over the past four years, she has been instrumental in helping pass and implement significant legislation and bolster national security. She has visited over 20 countries and engaged with more than 150 world leaders, establishing herself as a seasoned diplomat and national security expert. If elected President, she will enter that office with more national security experience than any of the four presidents before President Biden.

Before her tenure as Vice President, Kamala Harris built a formidable career in public service. She served as the District Attorney of San Francisco, the Attorney General of California, and was a United States Senator. Each role added to her robust legal and legislative record, solidifying her qualifications for the presidency.

In the battle against Trump, Harris’s prosecutorial background stands out. Jain underscores her ability to “prosecute the case against Trump,” particularly on pivotal issues such as reproductive rights. She has been a vocal advocate in this area and her stance is expected to resonate strongly with voters disillusioned by Trump’s significant involvement in overturning Roe v. Wade.

“Harris embodies the new generation within the Democratic Party,” Jain asserts, pointing to her stark contrast with Trump on matters of age, fitness, and temperament. Her support spans a diverse coalition, including advocates for reproductive rights, democracy, young voters, LGBTQ+ rights, and labor unions.

“If elected President, Kamala Devi Harris’s win will no doubt be historic, yet a quintessential American story. As the daughter of immigrants, she has pursued the power of education and public service to push forth our country’s greatest ideals — consistently speaking truth to the status quo, while blazing a path of ‘firsts’ from San Francisco district attorney to California attorney general to U.S. Senator, Vice President and now to the Oval Office,” says Jain.

Polling data further boosts Harris’s prospects. Jain notes that the Vice President leads Trump among Independent voters and holds the preferred position among key Democratic constituencies, including young voters, Black and Latino communities, women, and the quickly growing Asian American community.

Financially, Harris’s campaign is robust. With nearly $100 million in cash-on-hand and over $81 million raised in just twenty-four hours, her campaign infrastructure is primed for the race.

Confident in Vice President Harris’s chances, Jain concludes, “Kamala Harris is not only prepared but uniquely positioned to lead the Democratic Party to address the major issues of our time and challenge those who once again seek to undermine our democracy and democratic ideals in this election.”
