MUMBAI- The world’s first feature film solely focused on menopause, Me No Pause Me Play, kicked off with its muhurat ceremony here.
Directed by Samar K Mukherjee and based on the widely recognized book of the same name, the film aims to shatter taboos around menopause, a subject often overlooked in both popular media and public discourse. Written and produced by Manoj Kumar Sharma, the project is co-produced by Suraj Singh Mass and Shakil Qureshi. Reliance Entertainment is the official digital marketing partner.
The film features Kamya Punjabi in the lead, alongside Deepshikha Nagpal, Karan Singh Chhabra, Arkham Abbasi, Indu Solanki, and several others, with a cameo by Amiee Misobbah.
“Cinema must reflect society’s truths. Menopause is real and often ignored. This film is about more than a woman’s journey—it’s about changing the conversation,” said director Mukherjee.
Sharma added, “Menopause is not just a medical phase; it’s deeply emotional. Through this film, I want to give women a voice and the recognition they deserve.”
The story delves into the physical and emotional experiences of menopause—mood swings, anxiety, pain, hormonal shifts—bringing them to the forefront of a mainstream narrative for the first time.
Kamya Punjabi stated, “Menopause isn’t the end—it’s a transition that deserves respect and support.”
With a diverse cast and a purpose-driven script, Me No Pause Me Play sets out to normalize the conversation around menopause, not just in India, but globally. The filmmakers position it as more than a movie—it’s a movement for visibility, empathy, and empowerment.
