Karan Johar’s Instagram Cleanup Spares Priyanka Chopra

MUMBAI- Filmmaker Karan Johar has clarified that his recent decision to unfollow several celebrities and industry colleagues on Instagram was part of a personal “digital detox.”

The move drew attention after Johar unfollowed a number of prominent Bollywood figures, including actors Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Malaika Arora, and fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Addressing the attention surrounding the move, Johar shared a message saying the decision was intended to reduce the time and energy he spends on social media.

“It’s a DIGITAL DETOX!!!! Am unfollowing everyone to reduce my time and energy spent on the gram!!! This can’t be national news for god’s sake… please clickbait something else! This is irrelevant!” he wrote.

The filmmaker removed most well-known Bollywood names from his Instagram following list, with actress Priyanka Chopra among the few prominent industry figures he continued to follow.

Johar, founder of Dharma Productions, has about 17 million followers on Instagram and now follows only 74 accounts on the platform. (IANS)
