Karnataka Launches Scale-Up Program For Startups In California
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (IANS) – On June 12, Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s minister for IT and Biotechnology, announced the launch of ‘Hypergrowth Global Karnataka,’ a global late-stage scaling program, at an event here.
Dr. Ekroop Kaur, a state official expressed the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for startups in Bengaluru.
JF Gauthier, Founder and CEO of Startup Genome, highlighted the significant growth of Bengaluru’s startup ecosystem. “With 13,000 startups and over 40 unicorns, Bengaluru has shown tremendous growth as a startup hub,” he remarked, adding, “Entrepreneurs, policymakers, and community leaders in Karnataka are pushing the limits of possibilities.”
Hypergrowth Global Karnataka aims to support high-growth startups. The program addresses the support gap for fast-growing scale-ups, as most initiatives traditionally focus on early-stage startups.
This announcement follows the release of the 2024 Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER), which highlights the strengths of the Bengaluru-Karnataka startup ecosystem. The GSER was launched at the conference as part of a collaboration between Startup Genome and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission.
