Kash Patel Not Getting Fired, Says White House
India-West News Desk
WASHINGTON, DC – Kash Patel, the controversial Trump-appointed FBI director who has been under fire for his use of Bureau resources, is back in the spotlight after an MS NOW report said the President was considering removing him. The White House is now forcefully denying the story.
The MS NOW report, citing three unnamed sources, said Trump and aides had grown uneasy as Patel drew negative attention in recent weeks. Patel has faced questions about deploying an FBI SWAT team to provide security for his girlfriend at an NRA convention in Atlanta and using a government jet for what appeared to be personal travel, according to the New York Times.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump laughed it off and replied, “What? That’s totally false. Come on Kash, let’s take a picture to show them you’re doing a great job.” Leavitt then posted a photo of Trump and Patel giving thumbs up.
Speaking aboard Air Force One later in the day, Trump was asked directly whether he was considering firing Patel. His answer: No.
After Leavitt’s post, MS NOW issued a statement saying it stands behind its reporting.
Patel has since been one of the most visible enforcers of Trump’s law-and-order agenda, and his tenure has repeatedly stirred internal turbulence.
He also faces a federal lawsuit that accuses him of illegally firing top FBI executives at the direction of the Trump administration as part of a broader effort to bend the Bureau into a political arm of the White House.
