Katrina And Vicky Reveal Son’s Name And It Echoes ‘Uri’

MUMBAI – The wait is finally over for Bollywood fans. Exactly two months after welcoming their first child, power couple Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal have introduced their son to the world – at least by name. In a joint announcement that quickly took over social media, the couple revealed they have named their baby boy Vihaan Kaushal.

The revelation came via a tender photograph showing little Vihaan’s hand resting gently atop the hands of his parents. The caption radiated the couple’s joy, describing the newborn as their “Ray of Light” and expressing a sense of gratitude beyond words. Vicky’s brother, actor Sunny Kaushal, later explained that Vihaan translates from Sanskrit to mean “the first ray of light” or the dawn.

Interestingly, the name marks a poetic full-circle moment for the family. Vihaan was the name of Vicky’s career-defining character, Major Vihaan Singh Shergill, in the 2019 blockbuster ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike.’ Whether the choice was a deliberate nod to the film or simply a love for the name’s linguistic meaning, it adds a special layer of sentiment to the announcement.

The news triggered an immediate wave of love from the film industry’s elite. Fellow new mother Parineeti Chopra affectionately welcomed the “little buddy,” while filmmaker Karan Johar reshared the post with a shower of blessings for the newborn. Other stars, including Dia Mirza, Bhumi Pednekar, and Katrina’s sister Isabelle Kaif, joined the celebration with heartfelt reactions.

Katrina and Vicky, who married in a private ceremony in December 2021, have remained relatively low-key throughout their journey into parenthood. Since welcoming Vihaan on November 7, 2025, the couple has focused on their new role.
