Kunaal Roy Kapur Feels Different Generations Live In ‘Isolated Bubbles’
MUMBAI- Actor Kunaal Roy Kapur, starring in the upcoming show ‘Thode Door Thode Paas,’ where a family forsakes technology to live as they did in the 1970s and 1980s, commented that he feels both the younger and older generations today exist within isolated bubbles.
Kunaal noted that in his childhood, being comfortable with boredom led to pursuing interests and fostered more human interaction. He expressed a wish for people to simply look up from their devices: “If people can just learn to straighten their necks and look up… out into the world, look at each other again that would be wonderful.”
When considering a complete technology detox in modern times, he called it a near-impossible challenge. He elaborated on the anxiety caused by forgetting a phone, comparing it to losing a limb, as the device connects work, personal life, and entertainment. Cutting off completely would “really demand a reimagining of one’s life and how you spend your time.”
Kunaal shared that the item he would miss the most is his phone, as it is the primary source of work for him as a freelance actor, and essential for communicating with family and friends.
Conversely, he feels he would enjoy rediscovering activities like reading books, taking photographs, drawing, and cooking. He mentioned he still engages in these hobbies, but without digital distractions, he believes he would do them “a lot more.”
The slice-of-life dramedy series, which also stars Pankaj Kapur and Mona Singh, premieres on ZEE5. (IANS)
