Lisa Mishra – Debuting Alongside Ananya Is Unreal
LOS ANGELES, CA (ANI) — Indian American singer and songwriter Lisa Mishra, known for hits like ‘The Wakhra Song’ and ‘Nadaaniyaan,’ has made her acting debut in the series ‘Call Me Bae,’ starring alongside Ananya Panday.
“I still don’t feel it’s real, so every day I wake up wondering if it’s a dream,” she said.
Lisa shared how she landed the role, explaining, “I’ve worked with casting director Panchami Ghavri for a long time. She informed me about the series and the role available. The process involved auditioning and waiting, as it is for anyone new to acting. I’m not a trained actor, so there were many attempts before landing the right one.”
The series, which features Ananya Panday as Bella Bae Chowdhary, also stars Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur.
Lisa praised Ananya for her dedication, saying, “Ananya is incredibly hard-working and prepared. She memorizes everyone’s lines and helps remind us if needed. People don’t realize how seasoned she is, and I’m lucky to work with her.”
Lisa detailed the challenges of her role, noting, “The most challenging part was becoming the character, who is multi-dimensional—empowered yet internally broken. It was more difficult to embody the character than to switch accents. I attended workshops to ensure I sounded like I lived in Mumbai.”
