MAGA Divided As Trump Endorses Vivek Ramaswamy For Ohio Governor

WASHINGTON, DC — President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Vivek Ramaswamy for Governor of Ohio has ignited sharp debate among MAGA loyalists, exposing deep rifts within the Republican base over the biotech entrepreneur’s political identity.

Trump announced his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of Ramaswamy on November 7, hailing him as “something SPECIAL” and predicting he would be a “GREAT Governor.” The former president praised Ramaswamy’s business background and pledged that he would “grow the economy, cut taxes, promote American energy dominance, and protect the Second Amendment.”

But within hours, Ramaswamy’s post thanking Trump on X triggered a storm. “MAGA will never accept you,” one user wrote, while others accused him of being “too polished” and “not one of us.” Supporters countered that Trump’s endorsement should silence critics, calling the alliance a “winning ticket for Ohio.”

The candidate like Second Lady Usha Vance has faced a lot of vitriol online for being Hindu and Indian, with some of the comments being openly racist. Earlier he had cryptically tweeted, about ending identity politics.

Ramaswamy, who ran against Trump in the 2024 GOP primary before endorsing him after dropping out had responded with, “Thank you, Mr. President, for securing our border and making America safer. Now it’s up to the states to do our part — more energy, more housing, better education, less crime, less taxation, less bureaucracy. Starting in Ohio soon.”

The endorsement follows a week of blunt commentary from Ramaswamy, who warned Republicans after Democratic victories in New Jersey, Virginia, and New York City that the party was “getting its a** handed to us.” He urged conservatives to abandon identity politics and focus instead on economic growth and voter engagement.
