Masked Crew Ransacks Jewelry Store; Family Reeling After Violent Heist
India-West News Desk
FREMONT, CA — A long-standing family-run jewelry store here was left shattered—literally and emotionally—after a brazen smash-and-grab robbery on June 18 that involved more than a dozen masked assailants.
According to NBC Bay Area News, the suspects used a car to ram through the front entrance of Kumar Jewelers, a business that has served the community for over 30 years.
Once inside, around 15 individuals in what is being reported from six cars, stormed the store, smashing glass display cases and fleeing with tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in under a minute.
“It’s blood, sweat, and tears—many years of work,” said Sheena Verma to NBC Bay Area, the daughter of the store’s owners. “And then in less than a minute, 15 people come in and just break everything.”
At the time of the robbery, only three people were inside: Verma’s mother, father, and a store employee. None of them were injured. Verma told NBC that her husband was on a phone call with her mother when the chaos erupted. That’s when she called 911.
Fremont police responded swiftly and were able to locate one of the suspect vehicles, arresting four individuals. The investigation remains ongoing, with multiple suspects still at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects to come forward.
