Master Raju Shares A Moment Of Nostalgia

MUMBAI – Actor Raju Shrestha, popularly known by his stage name Master Raju, recently took a nostalgic stroll down memory lane by revisiting his days on the set of ‘Parichay’ with veteran star Jeetendra.

Shrestha fondly recalled working alongside the actor and shared a cherished moment from the film, featuring a photo of a young Jeetendra holding him securely and looking at him with affection.

Released in 1972, ‘Parichay’ was a drama directed by Gulzar. The film starred Jeetendra and Jaya Bachchan, with special appearances by Sanjeev Kumar and Vinod Khanna. A remake of the 1971 Uttam Kumar film ‘Jay Jayanti’, the story was reportedly based on the Bengali novel ‘Rangeen Uttarain’ by Raj Kumar Maitra and partially inspired by the 1965 movie ‘The Sound of Music’.

Master Raju began his prolific film career as a child actor in the 1970s. Over the years, he has appeared in around 200 films and several television series, including notable works such as Gulzar’s ‘Parichay’, Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s ‘Bawarchi’, Yash Chopra’s ‘Daag: A Poem of Love’, Basu Chatterjee’s ‘Chitchor’, and Gulzar’s ‘Kitaab’.

In 1976, he won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his performance in ‘Chitchor’. Currently, he can be seen appearing in the youth-oriented show ‘Ziddi Dil Maane Na’. (IANS)
