NEW YORK, NY – Former MSNBC pundit Mehdi Hasan is stepping into the digital media landscape with the launch of “Zeteo,” a new media company named after the ancient Greek word for seeking out and striving. The organization is committed to “seeking answers for crucial questions and always striving for the truth,” stated the company’s website.
The British-Indian-American revealed to The Washington Post that he has successfully raised $4 million for the venture. Zeteo’s ambitious plans include hosting a streaming show, and publishing podcasts, and written pieces, with a proposed subscription model of $6 per month for yearly subscriptions.
Hasan emphasized to the publication the significance of the current news landscape, stating, “This is one of the biggest news years of our lives, and that’s why I wanted to do something like this.” Despite acknowledging the venture as a substantial gamble, Hasan expressed confidence in his new endeavor, emphasizing that he wouldn’t pursue it if he weren’t confident.
Following the cancellation of Hasan’s weekend prime-time show by MSNBC last year, he joined The Guardian as a regular columnist.
